No Mercy, No Doubt: Kings Roll to Smoky Cup Title in Three Straight
The Kings left no doubt who ruled Division 3 this season, completing a commanding 3-game sweep over the Grit & Sins in the WPL Smokey Finals.
In a series that was qual parts electric and emphatic, the Kings combine speed, skill and unrelenting pressure to capture the championship in style.
The Kings are your 2025 Division 3 Smoky Cup Champions after completing a three-game sweep over the Grit & Sins in a high-octane playoff final.
Game 1 set the tone as the Kings erupted for a 7–1 win. Tyler Simigan led the charge with five points, while Joel Zimmerman and Matthew Wickberg each posted three. The Grit & Sins struggled to generate momentum as the Kings’ attack proved relentless from the first whistle.
Game 2 brought drama. The Grit & Sins showed signs of life, pushing the Kings to overtime in a thrilling 5–5 battle. But once again, it was the Kings who delivered. Simigan buried the OT winner at 2:05 to steal the game 6–5 and take a commanding series lead.
The championship was sealed in Game 3 as the Kings tightened the screws and cruised to a 5–1 win. Zimmerman recorded another three-point night, and Simigan added four assists. Between the pipes, Rick Doyer stood tall, backstopping the team with confidence all series long.
Over three games, the Kings outscored the Grit & Sins 18–7 and showed why they were the team to beat all season.
