Looking for a non-contact, co-ed hockey league in the Peace Region? The Wapiti Players League (WPL) is based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and offers a streamlined solution for rec hockey and beer league teams who want to play competitive hockey—without the stress of organizing schedules or booking ice.
Whether you're a returning team or just getting started, the WPL handles everything for you:
🏒 Game scheduling
🧊 Ice bookings
🧍♂️ Referee assignments
📊 Live scorekeeping
All games are played at local rinks in and around Grande Prairie, making it easy to show up, play, and enjoy the game without long travel times or extra costs.
We’re a volunteer-run, not-for-profit hockey league focused on creating a great experience for adult players. Any leftover funds at the end of the season go right back to the teams—to help reduce next year’s registration fees. We believe in transparency, and team managers receive a full breakdown of league expenses every season.
In an exciting update, the WPL has acquired the Industrial Hockey League (IHL) — a well-known non-contact league for former Junior B and Senior players who still want to play high-level rec hockey in a team setting. This merge strengthens the WPL’s offering and creates more opportunities for competitive hockey in Grande Prairie.
Whether you’re into beer league hockey, looking for a competitive co-ed rec league, or just want to play in a well-run, organized hockey league in the Peace Region, the WPL is the place to be.
