What's New for 2024
As we continue to improve the league by having discussions with team managers and players, the most recent town hall meeting has been very productive and has come up with some changes for the 2024 season. Below is summary of what's new for 2024:
Div 3 & 4 Combined
For the upcoming regular season, we will be merging these two divisions and then tiering teams for the playoffs.
This decision was prompted by concerns regarding team placement in these divisions. Using last year as a reference, combining both divisions would result in each team playing each other approximately twice, with some matchups occurring only once.
To ensure fairness, we will allocate extra time to meticulously schedule the lower division 4 teams for only one game against the top division 3 teams.
Pay Schedules
We're pleased to announce that there will be no fee increases for the 2024 season, which is great news. The initial 50% payment of $4483 will remain due before the season opener. (October 1st)
To address issues with late payments, we've introduced a new policy: the remaining 50% must be paid by the 10-game realignment mark. Failure to settle the balance by your team's 10th game will result in your team being withdrawn from the remainder of the schedule.
AGM
The AGM will now be held entirely on a virtual platform like Zoom or Google Meets. Over the past two years, in-person attendance at the AGM has consistently comprised of the same 7 to 8 teams. Throughout each season, the league receives numerous inquiries and concerns via emails, calls and social media comments/messages. Many of which are addressed at the annual AGM/Team Managers meeting. To ensure uniform understanding on many topics as we head into the season, attendance at the virtual AGM is mandatory for all teams. While you may appoint a proxy to attend on your behalf, your team's presence is required.
In an effort to boost attendance, we're introducing an incentive for teams to participate. Only those teams present at the AGM/Managers Meeting will be eligible for a credit from the league when a credit is available. The total funds allocated for credits in the season will remain unchanged, but will be evenly distributed among the eligible teams in attendance. Eligibility criteria for the credit will remain consistent with the previous season, applicable to teams that participated in the previous season.
If you require further clarification on this please contact the league directly and we will help.
Playoff Format
The playoff format for Div 2, 3 & 4 will be changed to a QF 3 - SF 5 - Final 5
